Too Busy Looking Good
It started with the remote control car and the reliving of my childhood past. My friend Sean and I would head down to his basement where we kept shop. On the work bench would be parked a Grasshopper and a Super Hornet. We would get to work, painting, cleaning, and charging batteries for our next off road adventure. When the battery lights has turned green we would take the RCs out and race them around. These weren't your Toy's R Us remote control cars. These cars were from the Japanese modeling company Tamiya, Inc. These cars cooked. Now that I am aged, the Grasshopper line has since been discontinued. However, the Super Hornet has been reissued. It was seeing the new Super Hornet that started my downhill descent. It was $150 for the whole kit. I am in debt and need to budget. You can imagine the conflict. What would you do for $150. Would you demean yourself? Would you sell out? Would you keep a hairstyle blog for 7 days, including detailed descriptions of how you maintain your hair and what products you use? I answered yes to all of these questions an online ad posted by a marketing company seeking 20 somethings for a hairstyle blog was asking. I had hair. I styled it. I used a hair product. I was still just barely a 20 something. I fit all of the qualifications. I sent an email. They responded by hiring me and creating access to my new hairstyle blog. Over the next week, I must complete a daily assigment for my hairstyle blog. Monday, I had to tell them about me. What do I do? How do I live? It was embarrassing. Yesterday, I had to talk about my hair product in detail. Today, I took pictures of my hair pre-Brylcreem and post-Brylcreem and talked about my hair routine, weekends vs weekdays. The pictures of my hair unstyled and styled look very, very similar. There is not much you can do with a special $5.99 haircut from SuperCuts. Four more days. Four more days. I chanted the mantra in front of the mirror. Four more days and this Adonis will be tearing up the race track. God, my hair looks good. Everyone wants my hair. I'll cut you a lock and send it to you for $50. Posted by Monkeyspit at May 5, 2004 8:54 AMComments
